In a closing presentation at AOCN 2021, Professor Ryuji Kaji, Vice President of the World Federation of Neurology (WFN), presented an overview of the neurological diseases affecting the rapidly aging population in Asia.
Prof. Kaji, Director of the Department of Neurology at the Institute of Health-Bioscience, Tokushima University, Japan, said: “Asia is in great need for neurological resources as there are a lot of problems with neurological disorder in patients here.”
Compared with countries such as the US and the UK, many countries in Asia are experiencing a rapidly increasing aged population (age >65 years), most notably in Japan but also in China, South Korea, and Singapore.
